Tamil Nadu, Thanjavur district:
A mud wall collapsed at Veerakurichi Village near Pattukkottai in Thanjavur District. This
tragic incident happened around 2 am on 15th Jan, where a 45 years old Mary and her
daughter Nivetha (18) were killed. Mary’s husband Varaprasatham, an agricultural coolie
, and another daughter Udhaya sustained injuries. Pattukkottai Taluk police have registered a
case based on a complaint filed by varaprasatham and are investigating. The preliminary
investigation reveals that the mud wall of the hut fell on them after the wall of the next
house collapsed and fell onto the thatched roof house of varaprasatham in which the victims
crushed to death.
